Frequently Asked Questions
Pricing & Budget
How much will my project cost?
We provide transparent, detailed estimates with no hidden fees. Here are typical price ranges:
Full Bathroom Remodeling: $5,000-$50,000+ (depending on size and fixtures)
- Powder rooms: $5,000-$10,000
- Guest bathrooms: $14,000-$20,000
- Master bathrooms: $30,000+
Tile Installation: $8-$25 per sq ft installed
- Bathroom tile only: $2,000-$8,000
- Kitchen backsplash: $1,500-$4,500
Vinyl & Laminate Flooring: $5-$12 per sq ft installed
Every estimate includes a detailed breakdown of materials, labor, permits, and disposal. We recommend setting aside 10-15% for unexpected issues common in older Oregon homes (water damage, outdated plumbing). All change orders require your written approval before we proceed.
What's your payment schedule?
We never ask for full payment upfront. Our standard payment structure protects you:
- 30% deposit upon contract signing
- 30% after demolition and rough work completion
- 30% after tile/flooring installation
- 10% final payment after walkthrough and your approval
This ensures you only pay for completed work, and the 10% holdback motivates us to finish every detail perfectly.
Timeline & Process
How long will my project take?
Full Bathroom Remodeling: 6-8 weeks total (15-20 active construction days)
- Includes design, permits (2-4 weeks in Oregon), materials ordering, and construction
Bathroom Tile Installation: 1-2 weeks (5-8 active construction days)
Kitchen Backsplash: 3-7 days (2-3 active construction days)
Vinyl/Laminate Flooring: 1.5-2 weeks (4-7 active construction days)
Oregon permit wait times vary by city: Portland averages 3-6 weeks, Salem/Eugene 2-4 weeks, smaller cities 1-3 weeks. We build these timelines into our schedule from day one, so there are no surprises.
Can I live in my home during construction?
Absolutely! Most projects allow you to remain in your home with minor adjustments:
Full bathroom remodels: If it’s your only bathroom, you’ll need alternative arrangements for 10-14 days during active construction. If you have a second bathroom, you can live normally.
Tile & flooring projects: We work room-by-room so most of your home remains functional. We seal work areas with plastic barriers for dust control.
Kitchen backsplash: Your kitchen remains fully functional throughout the project.
We maintain clean jobsites with daily cleanup, dust barriers, and protective coverings on floors and surfaces. We respect that this is your home, not just a worksite.
Quality & Materials
What materials do you use for Oregon's climate?
Oregon’s wet climate requires specific materials to prevent water damage. We use:
Tile Projects:
- Porcelain tile (water absorption <0.5% – virtually waterproof)
- Schluter KERDI or RedGard waterproofing systems
- Epoxy grout (100% waterproof, never needs sealing) or sealed cement grout
- Uncoupling membranes to prevent cracking
Flooring:
- 100% waterproof WPC/SPC luxury vinyl (ideal for Oregon)
- AC4-AC5 rated laminate with moisture barriers (for dry areas only)
- All materials must acclimate 48-72 hours to your home’s conditions
We never cut corners on waterproofing—it’s the #1 cause of bathroom failures. All materials are selected for durability in Oregon’s climate and backed by manufacturer warranties.
How do I know your work will last?
Quality is our reputation. Here’s how we ensure it:
- Licensed professionals: Oregon CCB License #255175, 10+ years experience
- Industry standards: We follow TCNA (Tile Council of North America) and ANSI installation methods
- Code compliance: All work meets Oregon building codes with required inspections
- Proper techniques: 95%+ mortar coverage, waterproof membranes, expansion joints, moisture testing
- Quality materials: We use climate-appropriate products from trusted brands
We provide a 2-year workmanship warranty on all installations, plus manufacturer warranties on materials. If issues arise from our work, we return to fix them at no charge.
Licensing & Permits
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes! We carry:
✅ Oregon CCB License #255175 (verify at oregon.gov/ccb)
✅ $2 Million General Liability Insurance
✅ Workers’ Compensation Insurance
✅ $15,000 Surety Bond
This protects you from liability if accidents occur, ensures legal recourse if problems arise, and guarantees we meet Oregon’s professional standards. Hiring unlicensed contractors voids your homeowner’s insurance and provides zero protection. We provide our insurance certificates and license documentation upon request.
Do I need permits? Who handles that?
Most bathroom remodeling requires permits in Oregon; tile-only and flooring projects typically don’t (unless structural work is needed).
We handle the entire permit process:
- Determine required permits for your project
- Prepare and submit applications
- Pay permit fees (included in our estimates)
- Schedule and attend inspections
- Obtain final approval
Permits ensure safety, code compliance, and protect your home’s value. Unpermitted work must be disclosed when selling and can kill real estate deals. We build permit wait times into our schedules so there are no delays.
Communication
How will you keep me informed?
Poor communication is the #1 contractor complaint—we’ve built our business to fix this:
Daily Updates:
- Morning text/email confirming crew arrival and day’s plan
- End-of-day photos showing progress
- Immediate notification of any issues or needed decisions
Weekly Reports:
- Detailed progress summary via email
- Budget and timeline status
- Upcoming week’s schedule
Milestone Meetings:
- Scheduled walkthroughs at key stages (post-demo, post-rough work, post-installation, final)
We respond to your questions within 4 hours during business hours. Major decisions require your written approval before we proceed. We customize communication to your preferences—text, email, phone, or in-person.

What's the difference between vinyl and laminate flooring?
Luxury Vinyl (LVP/LVT):
- ✅ 100% waterproof—ideal for Oregon
- ✅ Comfortable underfoot
- ✅ Best for bathrooms, kitchens, entryways
- ✅ Pet-friendly (scratch-resistant)
- ✅ No acclimation needed
- Cost: $5-$12/sq ft installed
Laminate:
- ⚠️ Water-resistant but NOT waterproof
- ⚠️ Harder surface (less comfortable)
- ✅ Best for bedrooms, living rooms (dry areas only)
- ✅ More budget-friendly
- ⚠️ Requires 48-72 hour acclimation
- Cost: $3-$8/sq ft installed
Our Oregon Recommendation: Luxury vinyl for most applications due to moisture protection, especially in entryways, kitchens, and bathrooms. Laminate works well in bedrooms and living rooms where moisture isn’t a concern.
Can you install just tile without a full remodel?
Yes! Many homeowners want to refresh their bathroom’s look without replacing functioning fixtures. Our standalone tile installation service includes:
- Removal of existing tile
- Substrate inspection and repair
- Waterproofing membrane installation
- New tile and grout installation
- Sealing and finishing
Important: We won’t know the substrate condition until we remove old tile. If we discover water damage, mold, or structural issues, we’ll stop immediately, document it with photos, explain what must be addressed, provide pricing, and wait for your approval.
Timeline: 1-2 weeks | Cost: $2,000-$8,000 depending on scope
We’ll be honest if a full remodel makes more sense for your situation than tile-only work.
